About the project

“ContempArt in Sacrament” by Andrii Liubov

This performative play by Andrii Liubov introduces Odesa’s audience to the problems of contemporary Ukrainian artists who were forced to leave their homes due to the war, fleeing Russian shelling. They are simultaneously actors in the play and performers who present their works and discuss current pressing issues.

There is no script for this play. The idea of the performance is to bring the stage performance as close to life as possible, recreating the real conditions of communication between artists. The play is a part of the actors’ lives right at the moment of the show. It’s a performance experiment played without rehearsals, combining performative, documentary, and immersive practices.
