Performing Memory Project
International presentations of performative works without travel – we decided to try this format of international interaction in the Performing Memory project. In collaboration with partners Arte Sella (Italy) and CoisCéim (Ireland), we will present two works developed within the Antonin Artaud Fellowship, both in Ukraine and internationally.
Lost Movement by Nana Biakova
On 10 May in Mykolaiv, Nana Biakova will present the performance and video installation Lost Movement, created in the Southern round of the Fellowship in 2023. Following presentations in Kyiv, Berlin, Bucharest, and Wrocław, the work returns to the city where it originated. Biakova’s research focuses on the objects of the city — those that have temporarily lost their function: the missile cruiser “Ukraina”, construction cranes, crystal goblets in a cupboard, and dresses in an abandoned Mykolaiv apartment. In Lost Movement, she reflects on how the war has transformed relationships with objects connected to personal memory and everyday life. Register here.
On 4 July, Lost Movement will be presented at Arte Sella, a cultural association and social enterprise in northern Italy, where local artists will adapt the work to their context.

Untitled by Sasha Kurmaz
On 24 May in Kyiv, Sasha Kurmaz will present the performance Untitled — a choreographic situation that considers bodily movement as a commemorative gesture. The work was developed in collaboration with the Contemporary Dance Workshop and is dedicated to all those who lost their lives prematurely due to the war against Ukraine. Register here.
On 4 July, Untitled will also be presented by local performers at Arte Sella.
In September, the work will be staged in Dublin with the support of the dance theatre CoisCéim. Choreographer Simone O’Toole will lead the adaptation process, shaping the performance in response to the local context.
